If the player is signing with a NEW TEAM:
- Maximum contract length is four (4) seasons.
- Yearly raises are capped at 10% per season.
If the player is resigning with LESS THAN 3 BIRD YEARS:
- Maximum contract length is four (4) seasons
- Yearly raises are capped at 10% per season.
If the player is resigning with 3 OR MORE BIRD YEARS
- Maximum contract length is five (5) seasons.
- Yearly raises are capped at 12.5% per season.
First-year salary is based on remaining cap space. If a team has only $9 million in cap space, the contract will begin at $9 million, accruing 10% or 12.5% raises in following seasons.
Each team also has the following yearly exceptions, in which they are able to sign players into the cap:
Mid-Level Exception – 1 year / $4,500,000
Low-Level Exception – 1 year / $1,200,000
These must be used on one player and can't be split between players.
SOFT CAP: $62,000,000
HARD CAP: $82,000,000
Any team that goes over the $82,000,000 hard cap must make a trade to get under the cap, or use the Free Cut sim in the offseason, before the next sim.
If the team fails to get under the hard cap, the following penalties may be enforced:
1. $500 cash fine
2. Loss of next upcoming 1st round pick.
3. 3 sim suspension of team’s best player (selected by the league commissioner)
4. No GM cash awards or claims until under the cap.
If the GM of the team quits while over the hard cap, the commissioner can make a free cut in order to get the team under the cap for its new GM.
If you are over the soft cap, you cannot make FA offers during the FA period (other than MLE, LLE, and league min offers).
- Excludes contracts offered to players with more than three (3) years of bird rights, whom you may offer a contract with your remaining soft cap money.
HARD CAP WAIVER SYSTEM
- If a team accidentally goes over the Hard Cap in free agency, they'll have to use the option of waiving any of the players that they signed that day.
- Teams may submit waiver offers to the commissioner via a Direct Message, with bids starting as low as $5 and increasing in $5 increments.
- If the waiver offers end in a tie, the teams will be asked to submit a new final offer that must be higher than the original offer they submitted, or forfeit their bid.
- The winning team will assume the original contract that was signed in FA (This team must have the cap space to absorb the contract).
The only exceptions:
1) if the bidding team has Bird Rights on the player and adding the contract would not put them over the hard cap.
2) If the waived player is a MLE or LLE player, and the bidding team has not used the exception yet.
3) If the waived player is a minimum contract, then any team with space under the hard cap can bid.
- In the event that no claim is made on the player, the team over the hard cap will have the option of waiving a different player that was signed that day.
- If all players have been waived and go unclaimed, the commissioner will decide which player goes back to free agency and the team is subject to a fine/loss of draft pick.
TANKING RULES
Teams are required to start star players when healthy. If a team knowingly benches a star player, they will be in violation of the league’s Anti-Tanking
Policy. Failure to comply with the rules may result in the loss of a future draft pick or removal from the league.
Exceptions: A playoff team is allowed to rest a star player in order to prepare for the playoffs.
