I think this RFA thing needs to be discussed a little more before being enacted next draft class. Not sure if I’m on board I’ll post my issues with it.
Does RFA happen before the FA sim even begins?

The way it is described is that all players go through free agency as normal but if a player is an RFA the original team has the right to match an offer if they choose to sign elsewhere.

My guess is there won't actually end up being too many RFAs because once a player is traded (other than post-draft trades but before the regular season of their rookie year) they lose RFA eligibility.

Making the criteria difficult to qualify because we didn’t want to let every team have the option of keeping every player I’m not overly attached to the idea if others aren’t on board

None of the other leagues have an RFA option that I'm in.

This means that you actually have to take care of a player and groom him to be able to keep them. Show that you care.

Then they lose an entire day of FA. It also would de-incentivize teams from offering to that player for the same reason the other thing that would happen is the superstars of the league will never get mega max contracts, because you can guarantee a lower salary by declining the mega max re-sign and letting another team send a non-bird Max, which is a bit lower

Because I'm cheap and don't want to spend $1000 per season just have my heart broken.

This way, it's a "offer at your own risk" scenario. If you have the knowledge that the player is an RFA, you probably won't put as much stock into your chances to sign him. Like Joseph, said, we'd love some input from the public on how we could potentially perfect the rule. It's still a somewhat-raw idea that I planned to workshop throughout the first few seasons, as our first RFA class won't be eligible for FA until our 5th season.
